Games & Physical Literacy at Home
Hello Nighthawks, Families and Visitors!
During these challenging times and remote learning it is important that we all find ways to stay active and healthy! I have been enjoying my lunch hour walks with my daughter and two dogs! The exercise and fresh air while staying socially distant from others does wonders for my mental health and my body enjoys the movement!
I also realize the challenges, especially with younger children to organize and complete learning activities at home and then trying to add in physical activity on top makes it difficult. Some suggestions would be to keep things simple, choose activities that everyone can do together and keep the time manageable. All physical activity counts and adds up to the important minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity daily.
Following will be suggestions from myself, Mrs. Chase and others to help motivate us to stay active and to help switch activities up so they remain fun and doable!
Remember that some of the activities may suggest certain equipment but please feel free to adapt or use what ever equipment is at home and easily used. For example, pylons could be any object as long as they are not a danger to step or fall on. Rolled up socks (especially the single ones from the dryer) are great for running around and jumping over. Chalk on the sidewalk does the trick too. What can you think of?
Stay active and healthy everyone!
